Mr. Phil Howard- Superintendent
Message From the Superintendent
It’s that time of year again – the start of another school year! I hope that both you and your child are excited to see what this new school year will bring. We have been very busy over the course of the summer preparing for the arrival of our students. Many improvements and upgrades have been made to our facilities during the last few months. Additionally, we have employed 11 new teachers for this school year due to retirements or to replace individuals who were able to secure employment closer to their home.
We look forward to working with you and your child in order to make this their best school year ever! If you have an issue, problem or complaint, I encourage you to follow the chain of command and to reach out to the teacher and / or the building principal of your child. I would especially ask that you do this prior to resorting to posting on social media. Our teachers and principals are unable to help you or your child if they are unaware that a problem exists. If you are unable to get the problem solved at that level please give me a call at 740-286-6442 and I will personally look into the matter.
The Jackson City School District is a special place as evidenced by the more than 300 students who live in other school districts but choose to attend school here through open enrollment. We believe that this is because of the many opportunities that are afforded to our students through our academic, athletic and fine art programs, as well as our reputation of being one of the top school districts in SE Ohio in terms of the results of the state report card each and every year. Another important attraction is that our students have the opportunity to receive their education in modern state of the art buildings and facilities that are amongst the finest in SE Ohio.
We are also blessed to have an extremely caring and dedicated staff that is committed to the growth and success of every student. It is our goal to prepare our students to become well rounded individuals who will become productive citizens in our community and the world in which we live.
