Kindergarten/Preschool Screening Registration
Each year the Jackson City School District conducts Kindergarten Screening during a week in April. This week long activity allows the district to provide a comprehensive screening for young children who will be entering the school district in August. This year’s registration/screening activities will be held on April 15-19, 2013 at one of the elementary schools.
All children must be screened before a child can enter school for the first time. Children who should be screened in April include those who will be five years old on or before August 1, 2013 and plan to attend kindergarten during the 2013-14 school year or four year olds with a suspected disability.
If you would like to be tested for early admission, you MUST register for this screening. ALL EARLY ADMISSION SCREENING WILL BE DONE AT THIS SCREENING ONLY. THE TESTING WILL BE DONE AT A LATER DATE.
To be eligible for Kindergarten/Preschool Screening, parents must be residents of the Jackson City School District. To register for screening, parents should call Becky Burns at 286-6442 as soon as possible. Appointment times will be given prior to screening.
Documents needed for screening a child:
1. Certified copy of a birth certificate
2. Certified copy of child custody order(s) if applicable
3. Written evidence of immunizations received
4. Child’s social security card
5. Proof of residency (Ex. Utility bill, rent receipt)
