On Thursday, August 20, 2009, our teachers will be provided with professional development by three nationally recognized presenters for training in Differentiated Instruction.  Elementary teachers will meet at the Southview Library for practical strategies presented by Pat and Pam Terry of Cincinnati, Ohio.  JMS and JHS teachers will meet in JHS Room 110 for brain-compatible strategies presented by Linda Allen of Louisville, Kentucky.  All three ladies are considered dynamic speakers who have been presenting workshops across the country and are excited about coming to Jackson to help us help all children learn.

To support our district focus on differentiating instruction for all learners we are providing the following current best-selling resources for your reading and ongoing professional development.  Please feel free to check these out in your school library now and throughout the school year as you share your learning and understanding with your building team members.  We believe that these resources will provide you with many more ideas and tools to meet the exceptional needs of all of our students.

The Jackson Middle School has established a Wellness Fitness Center with the support of grant funding through the Adena Foundation and the Osteopathic Heritage Foundation.  This fitness center provides state of the art fitness equipment for students to use during their physical education classes to practice lifelong fitness activities.  As the students develop their skills and confidence they are able to improve their personal fitness and wellness in a safe and supportive atmosphere at school.  The fitness center will be one of the highlights of the middle school expo to be held Thursday evening, April 23, 2009, at 4:00, 5:00, and 6:00 PM.
